Max Verstappen is set to race in the 4 hours of Nurburgring this weekend for Emil Frey Racing. Max Verstappen is set to race this weekend in the 4 hours of Nurburgring at the Nordschleife, the track where the Dutchman recently made a sterling impression in his first competitve outing.
It was this recent incursion in the 'Green Hell,'
that got him his Permit A license, which was necessary for him to compete this weekend.
The Dutchman will drive alongside Chris Lulham, who also partnered Verstappen a fortnight ago at the same venue.
Red Bull Racing gives Verstappen the green light
Following the current
F1 champion's Nordschleife outing Red Bull Racing's Chief Advisor Helmut Marko shared his thoughts
on Verstappen's 'extra-curricular' racing activities.Speaking with Sport.de, Marko revealed Verstappen had been allowed to part take in the legendary endurance race in a jubilant: "Yes!
"I think it's great that a Formula 1 driver, who has a lot of obligations in addition to the races - simulator, marketing and PR appointments - then takes the time for something like this with huge enthusiasm," Marko added.
Despite dispensing words of criticism aimed at the Nurburgrings Endurance Series, Marko lauded the Red Bull driver.
"But he took it all upon himself, although he has certainly already done 1000 laps in the simulator around the Nürburgring. So he didn't come unprepared."
The Austrian then added: "At the time when our car wasn't competitive, that was his great passion. Now both work. I'm sure he'll compete and he'll be prepared to fight for the overall victory."
