Just a week after the Monza weekend, Formula 1 is back in action in Baku for the seventeenth round of the season. All eyes are on the drivers’ championship battle between the two McLaren drivers, especially following the team order that saw Oscar Piastri yield to his teammate in the final stages of the Italian Grand Prix.
Attention is also focused on Max Verstappen, coming off a dominant—and somewhat unexpected—victory in Italy, finishing with a 20-second gap to the runner-up, and on Charles Leclerc, who has secured the last four consecutive poles at this circuit.
The Monegasque boasts an enviable qualifying record in Azerbaijan but has yet to climb to the top step of the podium there. Ferrari is also expected to be competitive here, particularly on the long straight where the SF-25 should excel, despite a season that has so far been underwhelming in terms of results.
The session is scheduled to start at 10:30 CET (09:30 UK time), with GPblog beginning coverage an hour earlier.

What time does the 2025 Azerbaijan GP start?

The Baku GP marks the seventeenth round of the 2025 Formula 1 season, as well as the final race to be held in Europe before the final stretch leading up to the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Here are the session times for the weekend.

Will rain create havoc in Baku this weekend?

Last weekend in Monza, fans and teams enjoyed bright, sunny conditions throughout all sessions, with the race also taking place entirely in dry conditions. In Baku, however, things could change slightly, with a light risk of rain expected in some sessions. Here are the full weather forecasts for the weekend at the moment.
