F1 insider confident Verstappen can fight for win at Spa but eyes an obstacle

Red Bull is currently navigating a highly delicate transitional phase, with Laurent Mekiesstepping in for the first time to lead the Milton Keynes team after taking over from Christian Horner, who—for the first time—will no longer be calling the shots from the pit wall.Still, despite an up-and-down season so far, the show must go on.
Red Bull is counting on Max Verstappen’s undeniable talent, hoping that the Belgian GP—a track that has historically suited the Austrian car—can mark a fresh start.  
Guest on the F1 Nation podcast, former Formula 1 driver Jolyon Palmer believes the Dutchman has what it takes to fight for victory at the upcoming Spa weekend.

Herbert expects Verstappen to cause trouble

We are exactly halfway through the 2025 Formula 1season after twelve race weekends. Although Verstappen continues to maximize his results despite numerous issues with the RB21, it’s clear to most that fighting for the world championship this year will be a significant challenge.
The battle for the title now appears to be between the two McLaren drivers. While it’s often said that you should never truly write off Verstappen and Red Bull, even Johnny Herbert — who holds Verstappen in high regard — admits that this time might be different. This, however, doesn't mean that the Dutchman will be invisible for the remainder of the season.

Verstappen five time world champion? Still possible, but at one condition

As we hit the halfway point of the Formula 1 season, it’s clear that Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have emerged as the main title contenders. According to Jacques Villeneuve, it will be tough for the four-time world champion to come out on top this year.
However, the 1997 world champion did suggest a scenario in which Verstappen could make a serious bid for his fifth consecutive title.
