F1 LIVE | Qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix
Yesterday’s sprint qualifying delivered a clear verdict: McLaren holds a clear advantage over a single lap—especially with Oscar Piastri this weekend.
However,
Max Verstappen still managed to pull something special out of the bag, slotting his Red Bull right between the two McLarens.
It’s certainly an encouraging result for the Dutchman, especially after Red Bull introduced its latest upgrades at Spa.
Who will grab pole at Spa?
The four-time world champion was in fact the fastest in both the first and third sectors, thanks to the low-downforce setup of his RB21, which gave him a clear top-speed advantage over the MCL39.
However, Verstappen lost significant time in the middle sector, where Piastri truly made the difference compared to everyone else.
Once again today, the Australian driver appears to be the clear favorite to take pole position — which would be his fifth so far in a brilliant season that still sees him firmly at the top of the drivers' championship.
Keep an eye on the weather forecast too — rain could arrive at any moment in a place as unpredictable as Spa, where weather conditions can change in the blink of an eye.
To find out who will be the thirteenth pole-sitter of the season, all we can do is wait for the green light, which will go off at 4:00 PM local time.
