Kelly Piquet celebrates Max Verstappen’s contract extension with Red Bull

With his new deal, Verstappen is tied to Red Bull Racing through the end of 2030. His previous contract ran until the end of 2028, meaning he has committed to the Austrian outfit for two additional seasons. If he serves out the entire agreement, Verstappen will by then have driven for Red Bull’s main team for nearly fifteen years. The extension was announced on Thursday in Zandvoort.

Shortly after the news broke, Piquet made it clear she was happy with her boyfriend’s decision. She shared the Instagram post about the new deal on her own account and added clapping emojis. The Brazilian didn’t need many words to make her reaction to Verstappen’s future plans clear.

On Thursday, during his media session in Zandvoort, the Dutchman was asked about the enormous length of his partnership with Red Bull. With a wink, Verstappen compared it himself to a marriage.

"I’m practicing for my own wedding, you know. I’m just going to see how long I can keep this up in racing, and then I’ll try to make my marriage last at least three times as long," Verstappen joked. It may have been a reference to a next step in his relationship with Piquet. The two are not married at the moment and haven’t announced anything about it either.

During the summer break, Piquet regularly offered a glimpse into the vacation with Verstappen and their family. She shared, among other things, footage from the Dutchman’s yacht, holiday photos from Sardinia and Portugal, and moments with daughters Lily and Penelope. Verstappen also appeared now and then in her photo series, although he generally stayed more in the background.

Piquet mainly showcased a lot of family life. For example, there were clips of Lily, who was getting better at walking on her own, and of Penelope during various activities. She also shared selfies with Verstappen, group photos with family and friends, and shots of dinners, boat trips, and days at the beach. As a result, her followers regularly got a sense of how the family spent their weeks off during the summer break.

Verstappen initially kept much quieter on social media, but eventually shared a series of vacation photos himself. They showed him, among other things, in the water with Lily, together with Penelope, and on a jet ski with Kelly and Lily. With the photos, he wrote that he’d had the best time and joked that he was already trying to get Lily up to speed. In doing so, Verstappen also offered a rare glimpse into his vacation and family life.
