In retrospect,Toto Wolff is kind of glad he was not present in Brazil at Mercedes' first win of 2022. It was a particular feeling that overtook the team boss. According to Wolff, it is ultimately about the team.

Wolff out of the spotlight

Mercedes crossed the finish line first and second with a rock-solid comeback to the season in Brazil. Wolff was just not there to celebrate with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. While you would expect him to be balking at that, the opposite is true. Wolff is happy behind the scenes.
Speaking to GPBlog.com at the press conference in Abu Dhabi, Wolff says: "I went through some interesting emotions because I had to go to the Middle East because of a meeting, and the team was great. I had this full intercom being built up, like being on the pit wall. I had all the channels that I could speak to even the drivers by pushing the button and in a way I tried to step back a little bit and then when the race was finished, Susie said to me, I bet you regret not being there. It was actually quite the opposite. I felt so proud of the team. I was so proud that it was about the team and the people that represented, and not always about me."
