Aston Martin on touché Stroll and Alonso: 'Can happen in lap one'

Aston Martin experienced the best imaginable start to the season in Bahrain. Fernando Alonso was immediately allowed to take the podium on his debut for the British team and, after a difficult 2022, Mike Krack 's men have started the way up. Yet the Luxembourg team boss is not yet willing to adjust the target after this year's first success. Krack also comes to talk about the early touché between his two drivers.
Aston Martin appears to be second only to Red Bull Racing in the longruns, based on the Bahrain Grand Prix. However, you will not hear from Aston Martin that they have to compete for wins or podiums every Formula 1 weekend from now on. "The target is unchanged. We wanted to do a good step compared to where we were," Krack told GPblog when asked about the 2023 target.
Aston Martin would have been close to scoring a lot less than 23 World Cup points. On the opening lap, Lance Stroll was a little too zealous, hitting Alonso's car. Both drivers were able to continue their way without major damage, but there was certainly some scare at Aston Martin's pit wall.
Krack is not very happy about it, but doesn't blame Stroll very much either. "Yeah, but this is things that in lap one can happen. Lance was fighting very hard with George on the outside. And I don't like to see that either, that is clear. But we let them race in lap one and lap two and continue. So it's something that you know that can happen. To be honest, I have not checked the cars. I have not seen the cars yet. On the data we didn't see any major damage."
