After Schumacher's unsuccessful attempts to return to the
Formula 1 grid and spending time in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine, the German driver returned to single-seater racing this season.
The former Haas
F1 driver joined IndyCar on a
full-time basis for the 2026 season with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, driving the #47 Honda-powered car.
After qualifying in 21st place, Schumacher was involved in an incident involving Sting Ray Robb and Santino Ferrucci in Turn 4 through no fault of his own.
As a result, he is currently in last place in the standings with 2.5 points.
The victory in St. Petersburg went to Spanish driver Alex Palou. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver's victory came after
the court ruled in favour of McLaren Racing in their $12 million contract dispute.
