Pirelli has responded for the first time to the sudden tire blowouts suffered by Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Italian tyre supplier states that Lewis Hamilton's left rear tyre was almost destroyed as well and further states that he thinks the debris on the track was responsible for the punctures.
At Sky, Mario Isola reveals, "We also found cut in Lewis' left rear tyre. That was a cut due to some debris," said the Pirelli boss.

What is the cause of Verstappen's crash?

Isola can not say anything about the crash of Verstappen and Stroll. According to him, it's too early and the tyres need to be analysed first to find out what caused the crash. The Italian is willing to make the first guess.
He thinks that debris on the asphalt was the cause because the left rear tyres are not subjected to the most pressure in the race at the Baku City Circuit. On top of that, the punctures happened at about the same spot on the track. But: Pirelli is going to investigate first and then will come with a statement.
