Ocon entertained himself with long test on the Red Bull Ring: "It was great!"

Last week Esteban Ocon was finally allowed to get back into a Formula 1 car. The Frenchman is mentally exhausted by it, but knows that he has prepared himself physically well for the coming season.

In two weeks time Formula 1 will finally start again at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Esteban Ocon was already at the track this week, as Renault has chosen the track to carry out a test for its drivers.

During the test day of Ocon the Frenchman was able to drive no less than 145 laps on the circuit. This was quite an attack on the body, because the drivers haven't been able to drive a real F1 car since the winter test. Still Ocon feels good after the test. "It was great! It only took me four laps to get the taste for it again", the driver said in an interview with Renault's social media channel after the test day.

"My body doesn't hurt. I'm just a little exhausted mentally. This test day has confirmed that I have prepared well for the coming season," Ocon explains.

For the young driver, time has also flown by. "It certainly doesn't feel like three months have passed. I can't wait to start racing in two weeks." The Frenchman filled the time with racing in the simulator, but still that is not comparable to the real thing. "Especially the braking is incomparable. In the simulator it is so much easier to brake than in an F1 car!"
