Ferrari have brought a new floor to Paul Ricard in their fierce battle with Red Bull Racing for the world championship. Charles Leclerc will test in Friday's free practice whether the update brings what it should. That is what Autosport.com to report.
Ferrari will hope that the performance on the track matches that of CFD and the wind tunnel. To measure the difference in performance Sainz will still drive with the old floor. The data can then be analysed to determine whether the new part is a step in the right direction.
It is unclear whether the floor will be available to Sainz in the French Grand Prix should the update prove to be a step forward. It could also be that Ferrari have opted to take only one copy of the new floor because of the budget ceiling. Only if it really is an improvement will it be made available to both drivers. This is to save costs.
Whether Red Bull Racing has included updates for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez is not yet entirely clear. Friday morning before the first free practice, the FIA will publish a document showing which parts are new for the teams.
