Jos Verstappen on Max: 'You could tell he was angry'

After the race at the Vegas circuit, Jos Verstappen spoke to Viaplay and gave his insights on the race and explained how things went in the Red Bull garage.

"The race itself was incredibly exciting, and that's what you get on such a long straight. There was a lot of overtaking. It was a fun race," Jos said. A lot happened on the first lap. Verstappen pushed Leclerc off track and got a five-second time penalty for doing so. A sticking point for Max, Jos said: "After the penalty, you could tell he wasn't pleased about it, and I could see a bit from how he drove that he was angry."

Halfway through the race, the Dutchman collided with George Russell. Both men lost some carbon, but for Verstappen, it was not too bad in the end: "The flap of the front wing was broken off, and for the rest, it was still good. Therefore we didn't have to replace it. I did notice that the car just kept going without that thing."

Tyre strategy was also crucial to take the win over Leclerc, according to Jos: "Those hard tyres just suited him well today. The medium tyres had graining on them, making a difference of four, five tenths per lap."
