After pole positions in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia for Red Bull Racing, Ferrari was the fastest team in qualifying in Azerbaijan. Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen drove exactly the same time in the first run during Q3, but in the second and final run, the Monegasque made the difference. Nyck de Vries had to start GP last due to his early crash.
Behind Leclerc and Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz occupied the second row of the grid on Sunday. Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso finished fifth and sixth respectively. Mercedes driver George Russell got knocked out in Q2 and has to come from P11.
