Sebastian Vettel broke down during the Italian Grand Prix with brake problems. The four-time world champion suddenly had no functioning rear brakes. Ferrari is still investigating the cause of the problem.
In a statement, the Italian team announces: "The engineers from Scuderia and [brake manufacturer] Brembo have examined all data and components and also initiated a test bench programme to replicate the conditions before the retirement. The aim is to get to the bottom of the defect, but so far the team has not been able to find the cause."

Ferrari is in a hurry

This weekend Ferrari celebrates its thousandth Formula 1 race at its 'own' Mugello. It is to be hoped for the formation of Mattia Binotto that the cause will be found in time. A double DNF like at Monza is of course what has to be avoided at all times.
Also for the standings in the World Championship extra points are desperately needed in the battle for third place. McLaren now occupies that spot with 98 points, while Ferrari is sixth with 61 points. It is a gap that remains to be closed with nine Grands Prix to go, but points will have to be taken this weekend.
