Priestley praises Red Bull: 'It seemed impossible that Verstappen was starting"

It was the conversation of the day after the race at the Hungaroring in Budapest. Before the start of the GP of Hungary Max Verstappen placed his Red Bull car in the wall. The mechanics had a short amount of time to repair the car in order to let Verstappen start the race. The team received nothing but appraisal afterwards.

The Red Bull mechanics walked back to the pitbox after the intensive job for which they passed with flying colours under the applause of the competition. A particularly impressive achievement, team bosses Christian Horner and Toto Wolff said separately.

Former McLaren-engineer Marc Priestley also has a high opinion of the Red Bull team and says in his youtube vlog: "A lot of people asked me how in God's name they managed to fix that car in time. I can tell you right away that there are protocols for when such situations occur."

Although Horner himself indicated not to have felt any stress during the moment, Priestley emphasizes that such situations are the biggest nightmares of team bosses. Horner, however, knew that his team was capable of solving them.

Priestley: "It is a team boss' biggest nightmare to see your driver crash at that moment in the weekend. For the mechanics, however, it's just the moment you live for. It was really brilliant what they did."

Priestley concludes: "It seemed almost impossible. I really thought for a moment that he wouldn't start the race."
