Many drivers did not sit still during the mandatory corona break. Charles Leclerc was already driving his Ferrari SF1000 through the streets of Maranello and Lando Norris tested in an F3 car.

Train every week

Valtteri Bottas let it be known that he drove both in karts and rally cars in the forced break. "It was important for me to keep driving. I consider myself lucky to live in a place where I was allowed to do it (in Finland, ed.). I've trained every week since the Melbourne weekend in driving karts and rally cars", says Bottas to FormulaPassion.
"I've also trained physically, paying a lot of attention to aspects like speed and reflexes. As the season approaches we will increase the workload to prepare for the first race in Austria", the Mercedes driver continues.

Bottas pleased with the break

According to Bottas, the lockdown gave him the chance to get into exceptionally good shape. "I was ready to start the season in Melbourne, but the break wasn't so bad. It was like taking a step back from everything. The factories were closed and communication with the team was limited. We have already analyzed the winter tests of Barcelona, I'm satisfied", concludes Bottas.
