With the great uncertainty surrounding many Grands Prix, Hockenheim has been mentioned many times in recent weeks as a possible replacement. Not in the least by the circuit director himself. Now he explains in Bild am Sonntag why his circuit will probably not be on the new calendar after all.
Next Monday Formula 1 will present a new calendar through the European races and Hockenheim will most likely not get up there. It has to be said that the calendar is subject to change.
"We would have been ready to step in and we would be happy to do so if asked. But we've also always said that we don't want to push any other races off the calendar", says circuit director Jorn Teske.
Motorsport-Total.com explains these words as a confirmation that there will not be a German Grand Prix this year after all. However, because the Dutch Grand Prix has chosen not to hold their event, Hockenheim could always take that place without Teske breaking his promise.
