Max Verstappen is bothered by paparazzi in his free time, as evident from photos emerging online. Much to his annoyance, as the last thing the Dutchman wants is a life in the spotlight. First, back to the headline of this story: Chances are you clicked because you want to see the photos. Via social media, they are easily found; the photos of Max Verstappen on and around his yacht in Italy, taken by paparazzi. But GPblog doesn't publish them, because 'private' means 'private'. However, not everyone realises this.
It's a kind of voyeurism, where ‘the man or woman on the street’ wants to know and see everything about celebrities. Also about Max Verstappen. And yes, you probably feel the same. However, too little attention is paid to the fact that Max Verstappen has a life off the track, where he has the right, like everyone else, to do and feel as he pleases - without half the world watching.
Max Verstappen has little privacy
The downside of success in Formula 1
The lack of privacy is one of the downsides of being an absolute top driver in Formula 1. Yes, there is fame, wealth, and racing in the fastest cars on Earth. But yes, you can't set foot outside the door without someone approaching you or waiting to take a photo.
Max Verstappen currently cannot escape it, at a time when he wants to enjoy his family in Sardinia. Anyone who knows him a bit or follows him through his social media channels knows that the four-time world champion values his privacy greatly. You never see him at parties with celebrities and he is rarely seen in photos that his girlfriend Kelly posts on Instagram.
Just look up some interviews; you will hardly find stories where Verstappen talks about his private life. When little Lily was born, the Dutchman did speak about the baby. But it was brief, limiting himself to the essentials. No extensive or notable anecdotes. In fact, to this day, it has not been made public when exactly Lily was born.
For Verstappen, it really is one of the downsides of being the best F1 driver of his generation. But let's also grant him his moments with his family, without 'us' watching. In just under two weeks, when the Belgian Grand Prix takes place, Verstappen will be in the spotlight enough for everyone.
