Lewis Hamilton has qualified in pole position for Sunday's race around the Sochi Autodrom. Still, he might be penalised. The Mercedes driver didn't get back on the track properly after going wide in turn 2.

Stewards

Hamilton had a hectic qualifying session in Russia. The six-time world champion had to rush for a quick lap in Q2 due to Sebastian Vettel's crash. At that point there was still a little over two minutes on the clock and Hamilton had no time yet.
When Hamilton came out of the pits he had to overtake drivers as quickly as possible to set another time. This did not go well. He went wide at the second corner. Instead of going around the post markers and back on track, he joined the track early. For this he is now together with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen at the stewards office.
