It's finally been announced: Daniel Ricciardo will drive for McLaren from 2021. After a long period of rumours that Ricciardo will go to another team, the decision is made and he exchanges Renault for McLaren.

Promising results at Red Bull

Daniel Ricciardo started his F1 career with the Red Bull Racing junior team, Toro Rosso. After a couple of years he was allowed to try it with the big team, where he made a big impression by defeating world champion Sebastian Vettel at the same time. In the years that followed he managed to find his place at Red Bull, until Dutchman Max Verstappen joined the team.
It soon became clear that Verstappen was faster than Ricciardo and in 2018 the Australian decided to exchange the Red Bull team for Renault, looking for a new adventure. That was really a disappointment. In 2019 he didn't manage to break any pots, while his biggest competitor McLaren became 'best of the rest'.

New adventure for Ricciardo

Now that Ricciardo has signed for McLaren, he faces a new challenge. The team from Woking aims to join the top 3 and Ricciardo, as an experienced driver, can take the lead. For this he will have to beat Lando Norris first, because the young driver is starting to feel more and more in his place.
