Lando Norris topped FP2 with a 1:25.816 ahead of Charles Leclerc in P2 at 0.222s and Lewis Hamilton in P3 at 0:301s.

How it happened

After 15 minutes into FP2 it was Lewis Hamilton again leading the session after having topped the timing sheets in FP1. Max Verstappen's struggles were onbvious yet again as the Dutchman could only manage P9 nearly half a second behind his British rival. Oscar Piastri and Isack Hadjar trailed Hamilton, as Charles Lelcerc, George Russell, Alex Albon and Andrea Kimi Antonelli followed suit in P4, P5, P6 and P7 respectively, with Lando Norris behind and Carlos Sainz closing off the top 10.
Sainz spun coming out of Luffield nearly taking out Hamilton in the process and then got going again just ahead of Nico Hulkenberg, who fortunately was not on a push lap at the time. Leclerc then got ahead of Hamilton, albeit marginally and momentarily. The 7-time world champion turned a +0.015s deficit into a -0.295 delta to his teammate to take over P1.

Norris breaks through Ferrari's hegemony and Verstappen can't make a dent in the timing sheets

During the first soft tyre runs Leclerc took P1 ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, with Isack Hadjar continuing to impress in his Racing Bulls taking P4. Though Piastri looked set to pip Leclerc the Aussie lost the delta he had in the final sector, as his teammate Norris managed to top the timing sheets by nearly 4 tenths over Leclerc.
However, the gap was more nuanced with Leclerc claiming there were issues with the left front that were preventing him from tapping into potential massive lap-time gains. It was then Verstappen's turn, but it didn't go as well as he could have expected placing P8, 8 tenths adrift from Norris.
