George Russell claimed pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix despite setting his fastest lap under yellow flags in the final sector following Max Verstappen's crash. Charles Leclerc will start alongside the British driver on the front row, while Lewis Hamilton completed the top three at the Red Bull Ring.
The Mercedes driver set the fastest lap after Verstappen's crash, with yellow flags deployed in the final sector. The stewards have confirmed that no further investigation will follow; as a result, the Briton can keep his lap time.
Kimi Antonelli was unable to improve on his final attempt after Verstappen's incident and finished fourth. The Dutchman will start from fifth place, ahead of Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Isack Hadjar. Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad finished ninth and tenth respectively.

The frontrunners had no issues progressing from Q1, as Antonelli in the Mercedes topped the opening qualifying segment. Verstappen was already out of his car with four minutes still remaining.
At the bottom of the order, the two Williams, along with the two Cadillacs and the two Aston Martins, were eliminated early. After the conclusion of the session, Fernando Alonso said over the team radio: "That was a good lap. Not what we want but not too far. We're getting closer."
Out in Q1 - P17 Sainz, P18 Albon, P19 Perez, P20 Bottas, P21 Alonso, P22 Stroll
Russell found himself in trouble in Q2 after making a mistake on his first attempt at Turn 3, dropping to 16th place entering the final minutes of the session. Over the radio, Toto Wolff told his driver to "just drive." In the Mercedes, Russell then safely progressed on his second attempt.
Verstappen also just made it through after opting not to go for a final attempt in Q2. In the end, Pierre Gasly missed out on Q3 by just 0.040 seconds. As a result, together with the four frontrunner teams, the two Racing Bulls cars progressed to Q3.
