During the final moments of Q2, Leclerc found himself in P13 and Hamilton on the brink of elimination in P10.

While Leclerc manged to put in a lap good enough for P3, Hamilton failed to follow his teammate's suit and instead failed to deliver a lap worthy of a ticket into Q3, finishing in P11.
