Honda and Alpine face consequences for cost cap violation from FIA

Honda and Alpine have received hefty fines from the FIA for procedural violations of the budget cap. HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) have to pay $600,000, while Alpine's penalty will cost them $400,000.

Earlier, the FIA announced that all Formula One teams complied with the rules of the cost cap in the 2023 season. However, there were two power unit manufacturers that did not follow the procedural guidelines: Honda and Alpine. The governing body stressed that neither had exceeded the cost cap and that they were purely procedural violations.

Now, the FIA has reached an Accepted Breach Agreement (ABA) with both Honda and Alpine. For Honda, that includes a fine of $600,000; for Alpine, the fine is $400,000.

They only received financial penalties, because the FIA believes both manufacturers “acted in good faith at all times” and cooperated fully with the investigation. Both teams will have to pay these fees in 30 days.
