Heartbreak for Perez: Q1 elimination in front of home crowd in Mexico

Sergio Perez has been knocked out of qualifying in Q1. Max Verstappen went through easily, but Perez is out after Q1 with the 18th fastest time. The same goes for Oscar Piastri, who gets to start one place further forward than Perez.

For Sergio Perez, qualifying in Mexico is already over after the first qualifying part. The Mexican did not get any further than an 18th in front of his home crowd and is therefore condemned to a catch-up race on Sunday.

Perez was not the only big name to drop out, because Piastri did not get further than P17. Perez spoke of a terrible season before the race weekend, but in his own country Perez naturally hoped for a good result. That seems to be very difficult from P18, which will only increase the pressure on his position.
