Race control has investigated
Valtteri Bottas' alleged slow driving and has concluded that they will not penalise him for it. The Finn will therefore start the
Austrian Grand Prix from fifth place.
The
FIA had already announced that they would pay extra attention to slow driving in corners 9 and 10 this weekend, and Bottas was not the only one.
Sebastian Vettel also had to go to the stewards for an incident with Fernando Alonso. The stewards say that when they looked at the footage they saw Bottas driving slowly into turn 9. However, he was far from alone at the time and so the race officials do not feel they can blame one driver.
Carlos Sainz also gets off with a warning. The FIA came up with exactly the same explanation for the Spaniard as for Bottas.
