Qualifying got off to a strong start, with Juncadella immediately topping the timing charts with an opening lap of 8:01.310, holding the fastest time on the Nordschleife for a long stretch.
The session was briefly interrupted when Wolfgang Weber crashed, forcing a 60 km/h ‘Code 60’ speed limit through the Hohenrain section. Once the track was cleared, normal racing resumed.
With eight minutes remaining, Verstappen returned to the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO and unleashed blistering pace. The 28-year-old lit up the timing screens with his sector times, and he crossed the line with a 7:51.751, eclipsing his team’s previous best time.
Verstappen secured pole with a commanding 2.9-second gap over his nearest rival in the closing moments of the session.
