Piastri looks ahead to first F1 race: "That would be a bonus"

For a rookie, there has been a lot of talk about Oscar Piastri. In the summer of 2022, McLaren and Alpine fought it out over his contract, with the Woking-based team coming out on top. In a video, the Australian looks ahead to his first season in Formula 1.

After starting the engine for the 2023 F1 season, which McLaren apparently did on the same day as Alpine, Piastri talks about his expectations of his rookie season. "We are getting closer and closer to the start of the season. I'm very, very excited," said the newest addition to the British racing team.

As for his expectations for his first Grand Prix weekend in Bahrain, Piastri is cautious. He sees it mainly as an opportunity to learn a lot, but at the same time he obviously hopes for a good result. "That would be a bonus," Piastri said.
