The MotoGP and Moto3 races will be held this weekend at COTA, the circuit in the United States that will also host Formula 1 at the end of October. All weekend the riders have been worried about the state of the asphalt. It is very bumpy and that causes dangerous situations. The Moto3 race is (partly) proof of that, as the red flag was waved twice.
Filip Salac is the first rider for whom a code red is issued by the race direction. The Czech rider crashed on the ground and had to be carried off with a stretcher. Whether the asphalt is the cause of this crash is still unclear.
After the race had been halted for a while it could be resumed. Three laps before the chequered flag there is another incident. Several drivers get involved in a crash. This situation is very unfortunate and has little to do with the circuit itself. Anyway, quite an incident...
