The Singapore Grand Prix started after an hour's delay because it rained heavily in the hours before the race. In the end, it was Sergio Perez who coped best with the treacherous conditions at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Completing the podium were two Ferrari drivers.

Charles Leclerc hoped for a long time to pass Perez when the DRS was allowed to be switched on, but in the end the Monegasque came up just a bit short. In the closing stages, he lost connection with the RB18 and crossed the finish line more than seven seconds after Perez.

For Max Verstappen, a fourth place seemed to be in the cards for a while, but after the restart, he carried too much speed when overtaking Lando Norris. He went for the overtake, but braked and had to start another catch-up race. Seventh place was the final result for the World Championship leader.
