'Bottas to Alfa Romeo on Monday, Russell announcement day later'

Bottas leaving Mercedes is now an open secret. But it now seems to be a reality. George Russell will be the replacement. According to the CANAL+, Mercedes will reveal on Tuesday that Russell will be Lewis Hamilton's new teammate next year.

At Williams, a spot will become available. Nyck de Vries and Alexander Albon are the most mentioned candidates. The Dutch driver was world champion in both Formula 2 and Formula E, while Albon had to leave Formula 1 last year after a disappointing year with Red Bull Racing.

It is not yet known who Bottas' teammate will be in 2022. Antonio Giovinazzi has not had a bad year, but it is unclear whether Frederic Vasseur's team wants to continue with the Italian driver for long. Should Giovinazzi leave, the chances of De Vries and Albon making a move to the premier class of motorsport will increase.
