Zandvoort and Spa should be worried after statements from Domenicali

Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula 1, seems to be hinting that there will be rotation between European Grands Prix from 2026 onwards. With Zandvoort and Spa without a contract after 2025, they could well become part of that deal.

There has been talk for a while about a rotation alternating the Dutch Grand Prix with the Belgian Grand Prix, which would mean they would no longer be together on the calendar from 2026. This intention has never been confirmed. But from what the F1 boss said in Bahrain. "I think in '26, you're going to see something interesting. We are discussing with other promoters in Europe to do something that will be announced soon," Domenicali told Motorsport.com.

Despite the announcement of the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, Formula 1 are still focusing on the event in Barcelona. "But the focus in Spain is in Barcelona. There is a big commitment to do a great grand prix there in the next couple of years," explained Formula One's CEO.

In recent months, there have been contract extensions with circuits, mainly outside Europe, running beyond the year 2030. Things are different in Europe, where, for example, Zandvoort, Spa-Francorchamps, Imola, Monza and Monaco Grands Prix are all under contract until the end of 2025.
