Wolff issues confirmation of Russell's and Antonelli's F1 futures

Speaking after the 62-lap race that Russell managed to win in a dominant lights-to-flag fashion, Wolff couldn't help but praises the British driver for a good day's work at the office.

He said: "Everything went well today. The driver-car combination was almost dominant. He controlled the race at all times."

When told Russell's win in Singapore would help the Briton match his most successful F1 season, the 2022 campaign, Wolff was asked regarding when would the most opportune moment to announce his driver line-up be.

When pressed on the subject further and teased with the speculation surrounding his drivers' futures' uncertainty being the Austrian's own fault, given that both cars are still free, Wolff said: "Yes, but the car is also fast. Don't worry, we'll announce something."

Wolff was asked one more question, this time regarding Antonelli's future, and if whether or not the Italian youngster had been confirmed by the team for 2026.

It was here that Wolff spilled all the tea. "Yes. Both confirmed!,"  he said.

According to Russell the issue of his contract renewal does not worry him, not even after Wolff's recent joking remark suggesting that Russell could risk losing his Mercedes drive.

For the Briton is all about capitalising on the opportunities that are available to him and his team, which he has been doing since lights out in Melbourne until the flag dropped in the Marina Bay Street Circuit this past Sunday.

With negotiations seemingly at a stand still, Wolff has now openly claimed that both drivers will remain at Mercedes for 2026.
