Wolff: 'Everyone in the team knows we didn't work well enough'

Mercedes has yet to get it right in 2022. Team boss Toto Wolff calls the car a 'shit box' and according to the Austrian, the W13 is dangerous for the drivers.

Wolff did not mince his words when asked to describe the Mercedes W13. For example, he called the car a 'shit box' and let it be known in Canada that he still stands by his words. "I think I was just saying what we all think," he says at Sky Sports F1.

"Everyone in the team knows that collectively we've not done a good enough job. I try to support the driver, because you're driving around in a car that's dangerous and that doesn't go fast," Wolff continued. The team boss says he wanted to make it clear that it's not because of the drivers, but because of the poor equipment.

Wolff's remark struck former Formula 1 driver Jan Lammers as odd. According to the Dutchman, a PR department should not tolerate this kind of comment about its own brand.
