Toto Wolff wants Formula 1 to remove the chicane in the middle of the long back straight because he thinks it'll improve the racing during the French Grand Prix.
Despite Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas picking up another 1-2, the Mercedes boss shows his care and attention to the fans. He believes the racing product will look much better if they remove the Mistral chicane.
Around what is usually a test track, there are about 100 different configurations, and some events already miss out the chicane. Wolff says the longer straight should help cars overtake more.
“Paul Ricard has all the ingredients that we need: In the south of France, glamorous, it’s a fantastic venue. And maybe we just need to have a very long straight rather than a chicane in between to allow for more slipstreaming," Wolff told reporters.
“I believe it will certainly increase the show. For me, the principal topic to tackle for the future is how can we have the greatest possible circuit layouts.”
