Mercedes team boss
Toto Wolff admits the poor start Mercedes have made to the 2018 season has caused a delay in Hamilton’s contract. The Silver Arrows are now 4 points down on Ferrari in the constructors' standings.
Hamilton won his first race since October 2017 last weekend, but even he himself admitted it came at the expense of Valtteri Bottas.
Hamilton leads the drivers' standings, but only by a single point. Wolff insists that the team is working hard to sort things out.
“We haven’t talked for a few days or weeks because it was so intense in getting our act together with the team,” Wolff admitted.
“All our priority has been concentrated on that. We are very well aligned in what we expect from each other in the future.”
The Brits contract expires at the end of the 2018 season, but he himself has hinted at ruling out any potential move to rivals Ferrari.
Speaking just last week, Lewis said: “I have every plan to be with the team for the future.”
