Peter Windsor believes Lando Norris should've been a lot closer to Max Verstappen in the 2024 World Championship. He lays the blame firmly on McLaren for bad decision making at key times. The F1 analyst looks back at the Hungarian Grand Prix, when Norris had to give a position back to his teammate Oscar Piastri. It just so happened he was also handing over the Grand Prix victory and losing seven World Championship points.

Windsor on McLaren's tactics

"The championship shouldn't be over by now with decent, proper management from McLaren," the Australian said. He then talked about the team radios in Hungary. When Norris was told to give the win to teammate Oscar Piastri. Windsor couldn't get his head around it.
"So he did. And yet, what was it all for? What championship? What help was he going to get? I mean, the whole thing was a complete, as I predicted at the time, as I said at the time, when I was very wound up after Hungary, the whole thing was a waste of time," he continued. The analyst said this was the basis for the Dutchman's world championship.

Windsor on Verstappen's championship

"in the blink of an eye, Max Verstappen has won the World Championship. And now all we're talking about at McLaren is the Constructors' Championship, which, of course, they've got a very good chance of winning, but it's not quite the same thing, is it?," Windsor explained in his analysis.
