Sebastian Vettel made the switch to Aston Martin at the start of this season. Where he struggled with Ferrari last year, he already showed some great races in his new team. Still, there will come a time when the German driver will retire, Gerhard Berger knows.
The DTM boss sees Vettel continuing to perform superbly, but knows from his own career that the German will come to the conclusion that stopping is the best option. "There comes a point when you can no longer compete at the highest level, but you still enjoy racing. Then you start to ask yourself where you can go," Berger says in conversation with Formule1.nl.
Berger then secretly hopes that Vettel will drive in the DTM. "I would love it if at some point he says: 'I've won four titles and had a lot of success, but now I just want to have fun' and then he chooses the DTM," he states. "He may then focus on the theme of sustainability with us."

Vettel still struggled during the first four races, but since the Monaco Grand Prix his performance went up considerably. Where he captured fifth place in Monaco, he then grabbed second place in Azerbaijan and ninth place in France.
