Valtteri Bottas is having a remarkable season. While his move from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo was expected to be a step backwards, this year the teams appear to be quite evenly matched. In Miami, the Finn is also competing at the front for the time being.

Demanding race

Bottas will start the Grand Prix in P5, one spot ahead of his old teammate Lewis Hamilton. Of course, the question is to what extent Alfa Romeo can keep the Mercedes behind over a race distance. But the conditions in hot Florida may be in favor of the Italian team.

To the F1 official website Bottas says he expects a demanding race for the tyres and for the drivers. Already during qualifying, the Finn was sweating so much that his body heat could barely dissipate. Over 300 kilometers, this will probably be even worse. At the same time, Bottas is ambitious.

Anything can happen

Starting from fifth, a podium finish is not far out of sight at all. “It’s Formula 1, everything is possible, and we are not far off. I think realistically fighting with the Red Bull, Ferrari with the pace they have is tricky, but anything can happen." Bottas adds.
