Will the Verstappen rumours disappear now that Horner's gone?

Christian Horner was released from his job as team principal and CEO of Red Bull Racing earlier this morning. Will Buxton, F1TV and current IndyCar journalist, shared his thoughts on this via X.
The racing world got a shocking surprise when the news dropped that Horner would be leaving Red Bull Racing effective immediately.
Horner has been in the hot seat for over a year now, sparkling rumours that Max Verstappen could be leaving, and his upcoming scheduled appearance in court in light of the allegations that surfaced against him last season.
Buxton also found the news to be a surprise. On his X account he said, "Seismic news in F1 land to wake up to. Horner gone. The right decision at the right time and for the right reasons? Time will tell. Makes you wonder if those Max to Merc rumors will suddenly disappear though doesn't it."

Buxton is not the only one to weigh in. Sky Sports analysts David Croft and Craig Slater also had their stories to tell.
He also said, "With Alan Permane taking charge at Racing Bulls along with Steve Nielsen at Alpine and Jonathan Wheatley doing great things at Sauber / Audi, mega to see 3 guys who came up the ranks together at Enstone finally getting their time to shine in separate team leadership roles."
