What will happen to Monchaux? Alfa Romeo team boss: 'Conversation ongoing'

Alfa Romeo team boss Alessandro Alunni Bravi has spoken out about technical director Jan Monchaux at the press conference in Austria after the first free practice session. The Alfa Romeo technical director is still in office until 1 September, but what happens to the French Monchaux after that?

"With Jan, we are discussing his position. Of course, we will have the next two or three months to see the best organisational structure for our team. Jan has been very important to us. Don't forget that we achieved together with him a P6 that has been the best result for our team in the last decade," says the Alfa Romeo team boss who succeeded Frederic Vasseur.

"So we want to reinforce the team and, of course, Jan… there is a discussion in place, and we will see which will be his position in the future," said Alunni Bravi.

With Valtteri Bottas in 15th place in the world championship and Guanyu Zhou in 16th, the Swiss racing stable is making anything but a furore in the 2023 season. See, for example, the figures after the Austrian Grand Prix, where both Bottas and Zhou played no significant role.
