Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton seem to be the biggest contenders to grab the world title next season. However, according to Jost Capito, we must also take George Russell into account.
The Williams team boss experienced Russell up close last season and knows better than anyone how great the Brit's qualities are. Although the driver will be driving at a much higher level with the switch to Mercedes, Capito expects that he can make things difficult for Verstappen and Hamilton this season.
Russell does not resemble Verstappen in character, but the team boss does not think this is a problem. "In Formula 1 you don't need the same character to be fast," he said in an interview with RTL Deutschland. "I think he can fight with Verstappen, I am convinced of that."
Hamilton keeps Mercedes in limbo
Mercedes is still hoping they will have Hamilton at their disposal this calendar year. The seven-time World Champion is in danger of quitting Formula 1 due to the events in Abu Dhabi if there are no drastic changes. The FIA is reportedly busy behind the scenes reviewing the organization. One of the issues is the position of Michael Masi.
