Vietnam still has a chance to organise a Grand Prix in 2021. Formula 1 has not yet decided on the blank spot on the calendar and the talks between the promoters of the Vietnamese GP and F1 are not over yet.

Empty place on the calendar

Vietnam was originally scheduled to host its first Grand Prix in 2020. However, due to the coronavirus, this was not possible and the race was expected to take place for the first time in 2021. However, when Formula 1 announced the 2021 calendar, Vietnam was missing and there was an empty spot.
"We will race at an alternative location if we have to, but obviously conversations with Vietnam remain ongoing," says Chloe Targett-Adams, Director of Formula 1 racing promotion, in conversation with RaceFans.net. "We have some options because we’ve gone through that process this year. We’ll kind of keep everyone updated, hopefully by the end of this year."

There is therefore a chance that there will be no Vietnamese Grand Prix at all. And now that the circuit has been completed. Should the race move to another location, circuits like Portimao, Imola, Nurburgring, Istanbul Park and Mugello seem to be preffered.
