Sebastian Vettel claims that Kimi Raikkonen’s image at Ferrari isn’t clear. Kimi is yet to win a race since his return to the Italian team despite Vettel winning 10 races in less time.
Raikkonen has started this season on the front foot having achieved three podiums which should have been four had it not been for a pit-stop error.
“I think one thing is always to look at the result and the other is if you look a little bit deeper,” said Vettel in an interview with motorsport.com.
“It’s been incredibly close this year so far. To be honest, most of the Fridays I think he had the upper hand so far.
“If you look at the previous years the image is a bit distorting. It wasn’t as one-sided as you might think if you look at the results.”
In each of the statistics, Vettel thrashes Raikkonen. Including a 10-times advantage for Vettel in the 'laps lead' department.
Raikkonen is now 38-years-old and has already said he won’t be around when the new engine regulations come into play.
There’a talk of Ricciardo joining Ferrari next year at the expense of Kimi but Vettel admits he would love for Kimi to keep his seat as long as possible.
“We’re a good pair, a good match. There’s no problem at all between us, ever.”
