There are many rumours about the future replacement of Helmut Marko. The 82-year-old advisor explained that he is looking to fulfill his contract, but the team are already looking ahead to see the possibilities. One name frequently mentioned in this regard is former driver Sebastian Vettel. Rumours of Vettel returning to Formula 1 in a senior role have been mentioned in recent months. Marko himself said the
German world champion is a serious candidate. However so far, no in-depth discussions have taken place.
"I'm not getting any younger,
that's clear. So you have to think about that,” the 82-year-old
Marko began to Austrian channel ServusTV.
About Vettel's future at the team, he said talks about a concrete role are yet to take place.
"There have been no discussions that have really gone
into depth", affirms the Red Bull advisor.
Since 1999, Dr. Helmut Marko has been leading the Red Bull Development program.
How realistic is Vettel returning to Red Bull Racing?
Marko also emphasizes that Vettel
is not the only option for the role. "There are surprisingly many candidates.
So, there are many names on the list of Red Bull,” he explained.
Still he also underlined: "I am
currently still fairly fit. So it isn't
very urgent right now."
Besides rumours about Marko's departure, Christian Horner's was also discussed recently. It was said the Red Bull team principal has been offered the same position at Ferrari. The Briton said during the Spanish GP that he is ‘one hundred percent behind Red Bull’.
