"Vettel could be on the podium at the first race of 2021"

Sebastian Vettel is not doing well at the moment. Ferrari is already facing a very disappointing season, and Vettel is not managing to do the same with the car as teammate Charles Leclerc.
Marc Surer, TV commentator and former Formula 1 driver, thinks Vettel will do better at Aston Martin next season. He even believes he can be on the podium at the first race.

He knows how to win races

"I would trust him. If the car does what he wants, he can make it happen," says Surer in an interview with Motorsport-Total.com. "He knows how to win races, he hasn't forgotten that. Even though he's at a low point at the moment."
Surer continues: "In the end, that only gives him strength. When it gets better, he knows that all the bad experiences can even help him."

Ferrari has written Vettel off

He also thinks that both Vettel and Ferrari have already mentally given up on this season.
"If Vettel doesn't have any real problems, everything will run smoothly. Ferrari has already written him off. I don't think they are deliberately discriminating against him, but somehow they have seen that they can't bring him to the front."
Surer also believes that the Ferrari car is becoming more and more aligned with Charles Leclerc. "The SF1000 is increasingly becoming a Leclerc car because he handles it better than Vettel. That's why Ferrari is moving more in his direction with the upgrades. This clearly makes the situation even more difficult for Vettel."
Surer is confident that Vettel will be okay. "He hasn't thrown in the towel. That shows what he's made of, and that he's strong. At Aston Martin, everything will be done to give him the car he wants. Ferrari hasn't done that since Leclerc arrived," Surer concludes.
