Red Bull Racing's chief advisor Helmut Marko shares his opinion on how the FIA's technical directive will impact F1 teams in the Spanish Grand Prix, and weighs in on Red Bull's chances for the race weekend in Barcelona.
Regarding the much discussed measures to costraint front wing flexion, in conversation with Kleine Zeitung, Marko was sceptical it would have much impact on the pecking order.
"I don't think it will make a world of difference. Many people hope that this will cause the entire aerodynamic concept to stop working, but I don't expect that."

However, in terms of the competitive level of the RB21, the Austrian is hopeful that Red Bull Racing will vy for the win.
"The circuit in Spain should suit us much better than Monaco. I think we can compete right at the front." A thought shared by the F1 reigning champion's title rival, Oscar Piastri.
Verstappen's maiden F1 win came at this very track, and since the ground effect regulations took a hold of the sport, the Dutchman has not been dethroned from the top spot, winning three back-to-back Grand Prix from 2022 to 2024.
A good result in Barcelona for Verstappen could bring him closer to title rivals, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. Both McLaren drivers are currently within three points of each other in the championship, with the Aussie leading the Briton.
A happy circumstance sees Marko, for the closer the fight between the two, the more points they can take off each other, opening the door for Verstappen to pounce. "Fortunately, the McLarens are alternating at the top, so we still stand a good chance."
