Alexander Albon is quite impressed with
Max Verstappen's current form. The Dutchman managed his 14th win of the season in Mexico, taking the record from
Michael Schumacher and
Sebastian Vettel. According to Albon, that deserves a lot of respect.
The Thai driver worked with Verstappen for a year and a half in 2019 and 2020, during which he failed to tap a similar level. In recent seasons,
Red Bull Racing managed to grow with Verstappen and the tally stands at two world titles in a row after two seasons.
While some of the success is due to Red Bull's good car, Albon believes Verstappen should also get plenty of compliments. Indeed, Albon believes his achievements have not come out of the blue.
"I think he deserves a lot of respect for that," the
Williams driver told
Motorsport.com.
Verstappen did handsomely in qualifying GP Mexico
Albon cites qualifying for the
Mexican Grand Prix as an exemplary example. In it, Verstappen managed to dominate, securing pole position.
"I think he is in top form now. Look at his lap in qualifying, because that was a very good lap," said Albon, who himself finished 12th in Mexico.
