Johnny Herbert believes it's Lando Norris' championship to lose, with Max Verstappen remaining the biggest threat for the McLaren driver. "He is always a threat."
- Johnny Herbert on Max VerstappenEntering the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Norris is on a two-Grand Prix winning streak, as he leads the drivers' championship by 24 points ahead of
Oscar Piastri and by 49 points ahead of Verstappen.
Speaking to a betting site, former
F1 driver and steward Herbert believes that the British driver is the clear favourite to win the 2025 drivers' title, as he has developed into a ‘complete driver.’
He argued: "His weakness was always at the start. That has been sorted. He had a little weakness with his racing skill, but I think that has improved as well.
"And with the maturity of those two things coming together, I think if he ever had that battle with Max, I think he would be more than able to deal with it."
According to the Briton, the momentum can still swing in Piastri's favour, but he believes that the defending world champion is a bigger threat for the championship leader.

Verstappen is always a 'threat'
Despite a stunning drive in Brazil to finish on the podium from the pit lane, his gap only grew the previous weekend.
Herbert believes that the Dutchman remains in contention to win his fifth title in a row. "Max is someone who can turn it around in an instant."
He added: "He is always a threat. He is that type of driver that even when he is having a bit of a bad weekend, he has the ability to work with his team, they understand what he needs, he pushes them into a corner to tell them what he needs."
Therefore, he believes Norris needs to watch out for the Red Bull driver. The Briton concluded: "Lando is very aware that he cannot rest on his laurels. He knows that any little slip-up is only going to give a massive boost to Max."
The British driver topped FP2 in Las Vegas. Verstappen only set the ninth fastest time, finishing half a second behind his rival.
