Max Verstappen continues to impress Jacques Villeneuve. The Dutchman won the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, meaning every race he has finished this year, he has gone on to win.
Verstappen started the race in Miami in third place, but immediately made up a place at the start, overtaking Carlos Sainz. Less than ten laps later Charles Leclerc was also a prey for Verstappen. The Monegasque was right behind Verstappen for a long time after the safety car, but there was no more overtaking.

Verstappen deserved title in 2021

Villeneuve explained in his column on Formule1.nl that Verstappen has been impressive from the start of the season. "Max has certainly shown in the last two races that he deserved the title," wrote the 1997 World Champion about Verstappen's 2021 title victory. After that win, there was much talk about whether Verstappen deserved to win it due to the controversial goings-on at the last Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.
According to Villeneuve, after the past two Grands Prix in 2022, there is no doubt that the title went to Verstappen last season. The Canadian speaks highly of the Dutchman's driving skills: "He drives almost flawlessly and when he makes one, he corrects it."

Standings of the drivers

Verstappen's victory has restored the tension in the 2022 title race. The Red Bull Racing driver has narrowed the gap with rival Leclerc to just 19 points. Sergio Perez currently occupies the third spot and is 19 points behind teammate Verstappen.
